Respected All http://www.sla.org/content/SLA/pressroom/pressrelease/09pr/pr2906.cfm Opportunities to Enhance Skills
and Increase Value to Employers Now Accessible for Non-Members Alexandria, Virginia, March 24, 2009-- Special Libraries Association (SLA)
Click University certificate programs, previously available to SLA members
only, are now open to non-members who wish to enhance their skills in the
fields of knowledge management, competitive intelligence or copyright
management. "During tough economic times, information professionals must take
advantage of every opportunity to master new skills, stay competitive and
provide superior service to their organizations," said SLA CEO Janice R.
Lachance. "Opening up the Click U certificate courses to non-members will
make this advanced training accessible to any information professional." Most SLA certificate courses are offered online through the association's
Click University and are taught by instructors who are thought leaders in their
fields. Courses in the competitive intelligence certificate program cover
topics such as planning and development, research, analysis, intelligence
delivery, and managing intelligence. The popular copyright management
curriculum includes instruction in domestic and international copyright law,
digital copyright issues, use of copyright-protected materials, digital license
agreements, copyright collective agreements (such as the Copyright Clearance
Center and Access Copyright), managing content and copyright compliance. The knowledge management certificate courses teach participants how to
expertly harness and manage proprietary knowledge, and how to apply and use
that knowledge in conjunction with industry information to support
enterprise-wide decision making, research and innovation. Students can earn a
certificate in knowledge management, a certificate in knowledge services, or a
dual certificate combining the two. While the primary goal of these programs is to allow participants to earn
one or more certificates, each of the certificate courses has inherent value
and any course may be taken à la carte. Continuing education credits (CEUs)
from IACET are available to SLA members only. Click U also offers "members-only" programs that are free to SLA
members. They include all non-certificate online courses, twice-monthly live
Webinars and replays, and the SLA Online Libraries. Also available to SLA
members as part of their membership dues are hundreds of summaries of
best-selling business and management books through execuBooks, a Web 2.0
training program called 23 Things, software and technology training in
the SLA Innovation Lab and SLA Leadership Training. About SLA's Click University Thanks and Regards |
