Elsevier Launches 2collab, New Research 2.0 Platform
Elsevier, a publisher of science, technology and medical
(STM) information, announced the official launch of 2collab (www.2collab.com),
a free online platform for scientific collaboration. 2collab is a free web
application that provides researchers with a platform to share resources with
networks of peers and specialists, creating an online community that
facilitates information discovery, evaluation and debate. This official launch
follows a successful beta testing period and incorporates feedback gained from
researchers based at Elsevier’s Development Partners, which include a
range of premier academic, government and corporate institutions worldwide.
2collab allows researchers to add, share and rate bookmarks, tag resources, and
to add comments and create topical groups. Each user is encouraged to create a
personal profile, which everyone can view to ensure the authenticity of fellow
users. This creates an accessible environment where specialists can work
together on evaluating new research, discussing current controversies and opportunities
