Dear Shri Sudarsan, We have been 'printing' records in the standard format of accession register from the database for last several years and filing these loose sheets as 'accession register'. Auditors have no objection to this. We produce this document as accession register when they arrive to our institute for audit. Dear LIS forum members Technological developments have restructured all the age old practices and conventional working systems in every realm of human endeavor. Library science is no exception to these transformations. The disappearance of the conventional catalogue cards from the scenario is an example. I have my own doubts as to whether it is mandatory to maintain a written accession register in a library. Does AICTE or other bodies insist on written accession register in libraries? Now most of the software's are having an option to print stock register. Friends please open up.
