Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC) is planning to brining out Professor Ganesh Bhattachariyya Memorial Volume, IASLIC Special Publication 'INDIA’S CONTRIBUTION TO KNOWLEDGE ORGANIZATION'. As we all know Prof.Ganesh Bhattacharyya's contribution to Library and Information Science in immense. He was man of high stature and a thorough professional. Prof.G.B. is taught and practised not only in India but in many countries of the world. He was a Head of the Documentation Research and Training Centre, Indian Statistical Institute and faculty there for more than two decades. He also headed the department of Library and Information Science, of University of Western Ontario, Canada and School of Information Studies for Africa(SISA), Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. On the personal front Prof.G.B. was adored by the professionals he worked with and is always remembered with utmost love and respect by one and all. He is aptly described as a “Man with no Malice.”
To commemorate this truly unforgettable personality, IASLIC has planned to bring this memorial volume. The proposed volume will be in two parts. The first part of the volume will deal with the evaluation of Prof. Ganesh Bhattacharya's contribution to the field of Library & Information science as a Teacher and personal remembrance. The second part of the book will cover the papers on different facets of “India's Contribution to knowledge Organization”.The volume shall be enriched by the articles of eminent personalities of the profession and other literary stewards which is to be published by the IASLIC before its forthcoming annual seminar.
In this regard we request you to please send your valuable suggestions on the proposed volume and personal remebrance recalling your association with Prof. Bhattacharyya. You are also requested to send papers on 'India's contribution to Knowledge Organisation".Your expertise will go a long in shaping the volume. We look forward to hearing form you.
