Hi! Department of Information Technology, Government of India is in the process of formulating the national initiative on National Digital Preservation Programme (NDPP). It is intended to address the technological challenges involved in the long term digital preservation of historically significant cultural materials, heritage archives, citizen information, libraries, scientific data, and other important information resources, etc. More details about the programme can be had from www.ndpp.in. A step ahead in this direction, during March 24-25, 2009 Indo-US Workshop on International Trends in Digital Preservation was organized at Pune by C-DAC pune and MICT in collaboration with Indo-US Science and Technology Forum. The following were the main objectives of the workshop: Getting an exposure to international trends in digital preservation Understanding the case studies of digital preservation and learn from the rich experience of experts involved in digital preservation.
