Dear All, I join with the LIS fraternity in expressing my shock and deep sorrow on the untimely demise of Dr. Kamalavijayan !
He was a professional with a difference. He was a successful careerist and the secret behind that success was his unique leadership qualities and his deep understanding about the basics of strategies required to be developed and sustained for ensuring the right kind of equations with the people and the premises, which do really matter and, which, majority of our professionals fail to acquire / achieve.
Right from the formative stages of his profession, he used to deviate from the traditional icons - be it men or systems or thought processes. This had undoubtadly attracted many professional friends to his fold and a few had perhaps raised their eye-brows too (which is quite natural) ! But he was unperturbed. His achievements spanning more than three decades proved beyond doubt that he was in the right track. His rich and diversified experience/expertise and his contributions were/are assets to the LIS domain.
He was instrumental in conducting some of the major international & national programmes at a much higher level and dimension, thereby proving the ability of LIS professionals to perform beyond the conventional boundaries, if one has the true determination and initiative.
I am sure, our LIS community had a feel of pride and happiness for his career achievement as General Manager (Library & Information Department), Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, which, indeed, is a covetable position!
I wished if he had lived longer and contributed more for the profession ! But life is like that.....
