Dear All, apex positions [Librarian] serves the purpose for the person holding some *Vision Mission & Goal*, keeping in align to objectives of the Library, as mentioned below & holding the accountability to take the library to the next level. - *Knowledge Enrichmen*t: General Books, Text Books, Reference Book, - *Resource Building*: e-resources, Journals, Audio Visuals, etc. etc. - *Information Dissemination* through, e-news clipping etc. etc. - *User Orientation Class*: Faculty & Students. * Library Services* [Current Awareness, Inter-Library Loan, Content Digitization etc. etc.] & *Library Resources*. etc. etc. Also being at the "*Apex** position of all the Discipline"*, he/she has to take care of the *User-Satisfaction* which is a big challenge A librarian can be compared to the "*Captain of the Ship"* or the "*Driver of the Bus"*, as my Mentor always instilled in me. Agreed the process of the '*Library-Task*' is 'Technical', but a Librarian is a "Manager" who has to take care of all the aspects of Luther Gulick's, Principles of Management, i.e Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, Coordination, Reporting Budgeting Negating the '*Visionary-Aspect*' & keeping the *'Monetary-Criteria'*, how far the race can be run?? This is an excellent question and i believe some leaders will come forward to answer properly. However i am not in a position to justify because as per present scenario if a library work can be done by the professionals having GP/AGP 4200/4600/4800/5400/6000/8000 than why to waste 10000 AGP on another fellow this may be the view of policy makers !

I also expect some good answers with proper justifications because IIT Bombay has already created 7600 GP post (Chief library officer) in lieu of 10000 AGP as per my knowledge and many institutes may face the same in near future. What our immediate parents have done same we are getting in return this may be one case i think !
