Dear all, I am greatly depressed to get the sad news of passing away of Dr Harish Chandra, Librarian IIT. It is a great loss to the Professionals in India abroad. I happen to know him since the days of his service at IIT, Delhi. Though He was junior to me but we were friends in all respect. When I was at INSDOC, he used to visit me very often in connection with many issues particularly academic affairs. I met him last at Chennai when He organized IASLIC Conference. That Year,we at IASLIC were in a problem about getting a suitable venue for the conference. Though IASLIC organized conferences at Chennai earlier, I requested Harish to organize it at IIT which he agreed at a short notice. He told me that when you say it is an order. As many of you who attended the conference may recollect how successfully he organized the conference. It is in IIT Conference where I was elected as The President of IASLIC as a first Librarian to be in that position. The conference gave an opportunity to see the IIT library where we saw the tremendous innovation he has made for users' services and the respect he had from the academics and students. I had the opportunity to be involved in many committees where he was also a member. He developed so much proficiency in Tamil, when I asked him he told that I am a person of this land.and i have to do it. It is a personal loss to me. May His soul rest in peace and let the Almighty give his family the courage to bear the loss.
