I am really shocked to hear the news of the departure of Prof. Gayatri Mahapatra. She was very friendly and charming. Though my interaction with her was brief, I was impressed by her depth on various topics of LIS.
 
May her soul rest in peace on eternity.

Dear Professional Friends,

 

We are very sad to inform you that our beloved Mam’ Dr. Gayatri Mohapatra, HOD, Department of Library & Information Science, Utkal University, Orissa passed away on 4th April 2008 at Cuttack on her way to hospital by a massive heart attack.

 

Mam’ was an outstanding library professional and information science teacher in India. Her professional colleagues at Utkal University with other information professionals, research fellows, students and relatives paid tribute to Mam, who was cremated with at the Swargadwara, Puri on 5th April 2008 afternoon.

It is indeed a great loss our profession.
 

May the departed soul rest in peace on eternity.
