Dear LIS Professionals and Dr. Goudar and others,
Thanks for suggesting sources from where Article requests our professionals are met. But unfortunately none of them have mentioned NUCSSI - National Union Catalogue of Scientific Serials in India brought out by INSDOC now NISCAIR. Of course it covers mainly Science and Technology serials, but on the other hand it covers LIS and Management Science journals to some extent. Suggestions to to go Google Scholar and Research gate and OA Journals or IRs is like finding needle in the haystack and some of the them cannot be downloaded instantly as I have experienced while navigating them. The NUCSSI is and Indian source and has catalogued nearly 40,000 titles from about 700Libraries in India. I have searched and replied many requests and some times the journal might be available in a neighbourhood libraries and for instance it had happened in one of the instances when I replied to Dr. Francis Jayakanthan's mail. So dear librarians don't you forget and ignore such an effort made by our own documentation centre which has done a benchmark for the systematic documentation of Union Catalogue especially Library Codes, Holdings details and so on. Its web version came out in 2010. See paper by Rekha MIttal published in Interlending and Document SUpply, V39, pp.53-60.

Dear Professionals,
1.This is in response to Vinod Mishra's query whether the acknowledgement for the receipt of document against article requested should be private or public. Before posting my suggestion I gave a thought, but remained silent. Being private, one is not dumping additional mail on to Forum unnecessarily On the other hand being public all will come to know that there is no need for further attempt by others. So it is left to the discretion of ILL requester.
2. Another suggestion for those libraries having access to J-Gate +. It has incorporated union catalog of University and several other libraries in the country. A link is provided as “Find-in-a-Library for 55 million articles indexed in it. One can easily find out which are the Libraries likely having the journal issue required. More importantly a request can be placed to the library of our choice directly using the e-mail proforma built in without trying trace contact details of library concerned and also type article details.

Many of you send requests through Lis-forum or directly to your contact for full text of articles. Before sending the requests please do some home work.
1. Search Google scholar. You may find link to the full texts through Research Gate or Institutional Repositories or some Open Access Sources.
2. Provide DOI Number if available. Most of the articles published today do have DOI numbers. - Please visit the Website of the Journal, see the contents page and look for abstract. Usually one gets DOI Number here. - DOI number helps us to get full text of articles very easily without wasting much of our time. and there by many will volunteer to help you including me.
3. Provide full information if you dont get DOI Number. You may have to do do some home work for this.
4. Don't forget to acknowledge and thank those who sends the article.

Goudar
