About the Seminar
The Libraries are undergoing tremendous changes since the dawn of the 21st century and facing many challenges. The impact of IT affected the traditional role and services of the Libraries and LIS professionals. Libraries are moving from print to digital resources.
Redefining the Library is a need of the hour to meet the opportunities and challenges in the digital age. Libraries find ways and means to reshape and rethink the services and to add value and remain relevant in this rapidly changing and competitive environment. It is high time to plan strategies to redefine the roles and services of LIS Centres and the professionals to meet the challenges in the knowledge society and demands of the future generation.
LIS professionals must learn new skills and adopt newer technologies to face the new technological challenges, if they wish to remain relevant for the future.

About Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Engineering
Aditanar Educational Institution (AEI), a registered society founded by the Late Thiru. Si.Pa. ADITANAR established Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Engineering in 1995 with the principle objective of bringing quality education within the reach of the weaker section, particularly in rural areas. It already has in its fold 5 other educational institutions in Tiruchendur.
Dr. B. SIVANTHI ADITYAN is the Chairman of AEI and the Founder-Chairman of Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Engineering. Dr. Adityan is a renowned Educationist, an enterprising industrialist, a newspaper Baron of high repute, a Sports personality cum sports Administrator and a quiet and unassuming Philanthropist. Under his visionary guidance, the college is growing in all the aspects.
About the Library
Central Library of Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Engineering was founded in 1995 with a small collection of books. Today the library has grown into a system with more than 27,000 volumes of books, 140 national periodicals and 218 e-journals. The College library system caters to the needs of the UG and PG degree courses conducted by the College. The library acquires all the text, reference books and other reading materials prescribed in the syllabus for the courses offered. It is a gift to the faculty pursuing Ph.D. Faculty from nearby colleges are also utilizing the e-journal sections of the Central Library.
