When we think of bringing in information technology applications to the field of library services, it seems that we should begin with easiest things that can be accomplished soon without much hassles.

Creation of a Website for library users with Google Page Creator can be a good proposition. Page creator allows uploading of documents upto 100MB. The site should contain materials useful for the patrons of the library and should not be a mere personal promotion attempt, if it should make any impact. You can even create site for special purposes, for short span even.

A site recently created by me for Urban Local Governance is available at www.kilalibrary.net.tc and another site being developed for Distance Training on Digital Archiving is available at www.rajankila.net.tc

W can make available a self - instructional guide for creation of website with google page creator, to those who require it.

What we require for this useful attempt is an element of vision, readiness to work on a computer for a few hours and an internet connection, preferably broad band.

Our library science schools should not refrain from focusing on such things too in their academic activities.
