Dear Professionals, The demise of Prof. M.A. Gopinath has created big vacuum for the LIS profession and also LIS Teaching community in the country. His publications especially the edited DRTC annual seminar volumes have formed part of LIS syllabus. He started wing with with Dr.SRR at the age of 16. He has helped number of students not just in LIS academic and research activities, but even as a personal friend of many. I owe him for completing my DRTC Course, else I would have discontinued it due to some reason. He was simple and lovable person, but very serious in his work. He tried his level best to bring out 7th edition of Colon Classification. Classification research was almost synonymous with his name. He would talk on any subject on the earth hours together. We never forget his face becoming red some time due to some disorder in DRTC, especially our hostel mess in Malleshwaram. I We miss him very much. May his soul rest in peace.
