Theme of the Panel Discussion:

Knowledge management can be viewed broadly as focusing on areas: 1)
Knowledge Creation and 2) Knowledge Sharing. Knowledge Creation is about
creating new knowledge and Innovation. The focus on Innovation gives KM
a forward looking creational role, as opposed to just focused on sharing
past learning's. Increasingly, it is realized that Innovation has to be
a core component of the overall Knowledge Management strategy of an
organization.

KM does not only act as a catalyst for creativity, but can also provide
means by which Innovation networks get built. This can range from
internal idea networks to external innovation networks including
partners, suppliers, and customers. According to Tom Peters, "Innovation
comes only from readily and seamlessly sharing information rather than
hoarding it". Increasingly collaboration is becoming a key enabler of
innovation.
>From a business perspective, innovative companies have experienced
profit growth several times the rate of non-innovative organizations.

The panel will like to dwell on how organizational and product
innovations are being successfully enabled, and what works/what doesn't.
The panelists have either researched or led innovations in their
respective products.
