with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Chandigarh is organizing "TWO DAY NATIONAL
SEMINAR ON Electronic Information Resources: Boon for Libraries and Information centres" on March 26 –
27, 2020.
Background:
The electronic information resources are fast growing and gaining acceptance among faculty members,
scholars and students as one of the best means towards facilitating access to qualitative educational
resources for enriching modern teaching learning process. The availability of such resources provide
new opportunities for libraries and information centers to redesign their services and activities for
supporting more vibrant learning environment coupled with access to qualitative learning resources.
This transition in the library settings has revolutionised whole society and much has been witnessed in
resource description, access and delivery. New tools that have emerged over time are helping to gain
better insights into the new unexplored areas of information consolidation and discovery that further
improve library services enriching the modern education and research domains. The transition from
conventional to the digital set-ups has brought the academic world to new edge where technology helped
to have new channels of accessibility. The digital era in the libraries has set new trends of accessing
the information and has also brought to light new services which are paving new ways for supporting
teaching, learning and research in the academic world.
Keeping into consideration the perceived impact of electronic resources on the academic efficiency, the
Department of Library and information Science, University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Indian
Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Chandigarh is going to organize two day national seminar on
“Electronic Resources: Boon for Library & Information Centres” on March 26-27, 2020. The seminar will
primarily focus on exchange of ideas, panel discussions, presentations, invited talks etc. relevant to
the theme. The abstracts of original theoretical, conceptual and empirical research relevant to the
theme/sub themes of the seminar are invited from academicians, research scholars, students and other
interested parties from universities, colleges and other institutions to be submitted latest by March
17, 2020.
