About the College
Pope’s college, located at Sawyerpuram, is one of the rural colleges in Thoothukudi District of Tamilnadu state. It is a resurgence of an institution that was founded in the past in 1880 as a seminary, by Dr. G .U. Pope, the revered missionary from England and run for only three years in Sawyerpuram. The college was later incorporated with Madras Christian College, Chennai for certain reasons. The college was rejuvenated as a regular institution in 1962 with pragmatic memories of Pope in the red soil of Sawyerpuram, with the help of alumni association (POBA) of Pope Memorial High School and a team of dedicated pioneer staff members, under the skilled guidance of Prof. D.S. George Muller, the founder principal.It is an autonomous and co-educational institution. It is a rural college accredited with ‘A’ Grade (CGPA-3.28) by NAAC in cycle-II. It is managed by CSI-Thoothukudi-Nazareth Diocese and affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. The college has about 40 acres of functional area with multi-storeyed buildings. The college offers 10 UG, 6 PG, 4 M.Phil. and 13 Career Oriented programmes. Three of the departments are elevated as research centres.

About the Library

The General Library of Pope’s College was established on 31st March 1963 with 1000 text books and five periodicals largely donated by Prof. D.S. George Muller, the founder principal of the College. The General Library of Pope’s college has the vision to create knowledge among the students to enhance their power to light India. The Library was earlier housed in the Main block from 1962 to 2011. The new library building with a carpet area of 3000 sq.ft. was opened on 10th May 2011 . The New Library building has been aptly named as Prof. D.S. George Muller library in remembrance of his dedicated service to the student community of Pope’s College, Sawyerpuram. The Library is housed with 37523 volumes of books with 15476 titles, 30 journals 10 magazines and NLIST e-resources. More than 150 students are daily using the Library.

About the Workshop
Library is an information center and caters the needs of the staff, students and scholar community. it is the right place to acquire knowledge. Library also provides the resources like curriculum based materials, academic work, self assessment and research work to the academic community. This programme also encourages the academic community to improve the reading, writing, research skills and ability to use the e- resources.

Objectives of the Workshop
To know the depth knowledge on research ethics.
To acquire the knowledge in reference management, citation analysis and plagiarism.
To identify the role of library to promote research integrity.
