[LIS-Forum] Appointment of Director of Inflibnet

Dr Baiju and Dr Joshi seem to have endorsed what I said earlier on this forum. Before questioning the validity of selecting a person as inflibnet director we should first introspect ourselves. We should accept that our professional standards have fallen drastically for various reasons such as distance education, mushrooming of LIS schools with inadequate lab facilities and mediocre teachers, etc. we did not raise voice when non-library professionals occupy library positions. There are no cordial relations between librarians and LIS teachers; and PhDs are given away just like ‘participation certificates’. Many times deserving candidates don’t get selected for some posts for obvious reasons. Can anyone answer why the librarian’s position of so many universities, IITs, etc. are lying vacant for so long? The answer is very clear. So let us work towards improving the ethics & standards of our profession and then question the authorities who chose to ignore Library professional to a non-library professional for this job.

> Dear Professionals,      I fully agree with Mr.Baiju Joy regarding the Appointment of Director of Inflibnet. In our library and information field majority of professionals are lacking professional as well as general knowledge. To crown this situation, our professionals are very poor in communication skills. So obviously Appointing a non professional as a Director of Inflibnet is not a bad idea.Regards,Ameet Joshi.Library Department.SVKM’s NMIMS (Bengaluru Campus)Phone: +91-80-25126071.   From: <lis-forum-request at ncsi.iisc.ernet.in>Sent: Wed, 26 Dec 2018 17:53:50To: lis-forum at ncsi.iisc.ernet.inSubject: LIS-Forum Digest, Vol 189, Issue 38Send LIS-Forum mailing list submissions to   lis-forum at ncsi.iisc.ernet.inTo subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit   http://ncsi.iisc.ernet.in/mailman/listinfo/lis-forumor, via email, send a message with subject or body 'hel
