*About BLDEACET, Vijayapur:*

Vachana Pitamaha Dr. P.G. Halakatti College of Engineering & Technology,
Vijayapur is a premier technical institute located in Northern part of
Karnataka on a scenic stretch of land spread over 20 acres in Vijayapur.
BLDE Association started this esteemed college in year 1980 as a private
Institute.

The Institute is the result of the BLDE Association’s recognition of the
need for quality technical education in the country. To achieve this
objective, it has striven hard to create an environment and infrastructure
that enables it to produce qualified, practical engineers who are ready to
face the challenges in the industries. The college is affiliated to
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. The college is
recognized by AICTE New Delhi and the 5 Programmes have been accredited by
National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi during the year 2015 for
the period 3 years. At present institute is offering 8 UG programmes and 5
PG programmes in Engineering along with MCA & MBA programmes. Five
departments are recognized as Research Centres by VTU, Belagavi to offer
Ph.D.and M.Sc. Engg. (by research) programmes.

*Research and Development Cell:*

While doing wonderful innovations in Teaching- Learning, the importance of
Research & Development has not gone unnoticed. The institute has Research
and Development cell and well established mechanism through which all R&D
activities are promoted, encouraged and appraised .The R&D cell implements
activities such as basic research, establishing centers of excellence,
cultivating research skills in faculty by deputing for Ph.D, Conferences,
workshops, Short term Training programs, & promoting faculty to submit
research proposals to different funding agencies.







*Library and Information Centre*:

The Central Library functions as the primary information resource centre,
and repository of all printed and e-resources for teaching and research
activities at the institute. The Library occupies an area of 3000 Sq.m an
independent block and it caters to the information needs of the students
and faculty members of the institute. It has more than 87,000 volumes of
books, 23,000 unique Titles, 100 technical journals and 13700 E-Books.
Library is also subscribing E-Resources viz, Elsevier Science Direct,
Springer, Taylor and Francis, IEEE, ACSE, ProQuest and Knimbus through VTU
Library Consortia. The Central Library is providing extensive research
support services to the research scholars and faculty members of the
Institute.





*Aims and Objectives of the Workshop:*

The aim of this workshop is to give the participants a broad overview of
research activities with special emphasis on reference management tools and
their usefulness in organizing and managing research literature. Use of
reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, will be helpful in
creating & organizing bibliographies, construct references while writing
research, collaborating and discovering new research. The advanced features
of these tools help in automatic insertion of error free standard
references and bibliographies through plug-ins, thereby saving the time,
energy & efforts of research scholars.



*Major Topics Covered:*

The following major topics will be covered in the workshop:

Ø  Introduction to Research and Research Ethics

Ø  Selection of Journals for research output

Ø  Quantifying Research output

Ø  Analysis of publications of BLDEACET based on the listing of Scopus
abstract and citation databases.

Ø  Information Discovery: Tools, Tips & Technologies

Ø  Reference Management Tools for management of literature

Ø  Reference Management Tool- Mendeley with "hands-on-practice

*Target of Participants*: *60 Nos*.

Academicians, faculty members ,research evaluators, current and prospective
research scholars and LIS professionals. The number of seats is limited and
the selection will be based on 'first come first served' basis.

*Resource Persons:*

The resource persons are eminent professional experts / scientists from the
field of LIS & IT. They have an extensive experience with the use of such
reference management tools.

*Duration:*

(May 25th and 26th, 2018) Two days workshop includes theory & Hands- on
practice. (Participants are requested to bring their laptops preferably
with Internet connectivity)

*Venue:*

Seminar Hall, Library Building and Hands on Sessions will be handled in
Computer Centre

*Workshop Fee:*

The Registration fee for the workshop: Rs 250/-
