are invited to be presented at the Open Session of the Agricultural
Libraries Special Interest Group to be held during the IFLA World Library
and Information Congress (WLIC) and 83rd IFLA General Conference and
Assembly at Wroclaw, Poland from 19-25 August 2017.Of the Seventeen
Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, the first four
goals – No poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Quality Education can
be said as the core and foundations of other SD goals. Agriculture is the
backbone of these core goals.The topics to be addressed include:
   - How do agricultural libraries in the country/region cater to the
information needs of farmers in advancing agricultural production?
   - What strategies are being adopted by extension service providers to
meet the information needs of farmers in the region/country?
   - How do university/institute libraries serve extension personnel in
keeping them abreast of latest developments in agriculture?
   - What role is being played by international organizations in
facilitating transfer of agriculture information to farmers in the
region/country?
   - What is the role of women in agriculture in attaining the Sustainable
development goals of the United Nations?
Proposal must focus on one of the topics mentioned above, based on facts
rather than theoretical aspects.Submission GuidelinesProposal
abstract (about 1000 words) must be submitted by 20 February 2017 on
any of the topics listed, with the topic to be discussed clearly
identified.Submission is to include author’s name, position,
institution, and email address.Important dates20 February 2017: Deadline
for submitting abstract20 March 2017: Notification of acceptance of the
proposal20 May 2017: Deadline for submission of final paper, no more than
3,000 words. Papers can be submitted in any of the official IFLA
languages: Arabic, Chinese, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Russian, but
an accompanying translation of all papers into English must be
provided.SubmissionsAll proposals must be sent to:Dr. Ajay P.
