An AppealLibrarians’ DayRanganathan’s 125thBirth Anniversary on 12th August,2016 Believablyall are aware and will appreciate that IASLIC, the premier nationalprofessional society in the field of LIS, during its 17th All IndiaConference took the pioneering step to resolve in the JOCLAI meeting to observethe Birth Anniversary of the father of Library Science, Dr. S. R. Ranganathanon 12th August every year befittingly to pay homage and tribute tothis illustrious Guru of ours. This auspicious day has been declared as Librarians’ Day.  Thus 12th August, stands as thesacred date to all in general and to library professionals in particular toobserve Librarians’ Day byorganizing seminar, symposium, discussion, etc. or in the manner it may befeasible in a situation / environment. Since it is IASLIC which initiated andthought it prudent to observe this Birth Anniversary first in the country,IASLIC on behalf of JOCLAI and its own behalf appeals to IASLIC members in particular and to all members of library associationsincluding  interested professionals/personsin general staying in all parts of the country  kindly to take initiative to organizethemselves and observe Ranganathan’s 125thBirth Anniversary on Friday, 12thAugust, 2016  in any form as thesituation may warrant.
