About the Presentation

Humans think visually and those who hone these skills are superior
problem solvers. Most business data analysis requires skills and
practices involving the use of graphs, charts and other visualization
types. Yet, resources that teach them are almost difficult to find and
often require expensive travel and training fees. This BI session aims
to educate everyone to be a better thinkers and analyst. In this
presentation, the speaker will walk through the following concepts.

• Understand concepts of visualization and why they are important
• Understand the many options for connecting to data.
• How to author powerful visualizations that allow data to convey a story.
• Create basic calculations including string manipulation, basic
arithmetic calculations, custom aggregations and ratios, date math,
logic statements and quick table calculations.
• Able to represent your data using the following visualization types:
o    Map & Geographic map
o    Heat map & Density Charts
o    Options for drill down and drill across
o    Dual Axis and Combo Charts with different mark types
o    Small Multiples
o    Scatter Plots
• How to use Trend Lines, Reference Lines and statistical techniques
to describe your data.
• Understanding how to use group, bin, hierarchy, sort, set and filter
options effectively.
• Understand how to deal with data changes in your data source such as
field addition, deletion or name change.
• Understand all of your options for sharing your visualizations with others.
• Combine your visualizations into Interactive Dashboards and publish
them to the web.

About the speaker
=============

Mr. Deepak Ghodke is the Country Manager, India & Senior Strategic
Sales Director of Tableau Asia Pacific and is responsible for sales
and customer success in the region. He spent his early years with
Tableau in Dallas where he worked on Enterprise Sales, and was
responsible for various sales territories in the Enterprise and
Federal government space. Prior to Tableau, Mr. Deepak was with the
Hyperion practice at Oracle managing major accounts for the Enterprise
Performance. He has also spent many years in the Business Intelligence
market, enabling field sales and presales at Hyperion. He also has a
strong consulting services background from his days at i2 Technologies
in the Supply Chain Management domain.

Mr. Deepak earned his Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering
from University of Nebraska-Lincoln as well as a Bachelor of
Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology from Bombay
India. He sees himself, as a data evangelist, helping further the
analytics revolution and lighting the way for the brilliant usage of
data in our day to day lives.
