OCLC has printed the last library card yesterday! The first printed card by
OCLC was in 1971. By mid-1980s, its printed catalogue production reached
the peak. For more and interesting details visit
https://www.oclc.org/en-US/news/releases/2015/201529dublin.html

What is its implication to libraries in India? The trend of using computer
catalogues in Indian libraries are on the steep rise. The demand for card
catalogue cabins has fallen to nadir. Those who are still using card
catalogues have to switch over to the computer catalogues in the interest
of efficacy in information retrieval and user-friendliness.

A few implications for library schools also. Should they need to stop
teaching cataloguing in the card catalogue formats? Should they
immediately start MARC and RDA based cataloguing?

These are the questions to ponder over!
