[LIS-Forum] Workshop on Academic Blogging

Dear Friends,

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala Library Association, Kottayam Region and
Kerala College Librarians' Association are going to organise a workshop on
Academic Blogging on 20-21 February 2015.


About the workshop

Hands on training will be based WordPress blogging platform. WordPress is
considered as an easy to use publishing platform for academic community.
With WordPress, we can create any type of website: a personal blog or
website, a photo blog, a professional portfolio, academic website, library
portal, a magazine or news website, an online community, even a network of
websites. Teachers, students, research scholars and library professionals
can publish their content with ease and effectively to keep in touch with
their peers. WordPress offers most of the features suitable for scholarly
communication for academic community.

In this workshop, participants will develop a custom website and blog with
static and dynamic pages from scratch. Experienced resource persons will
introduce various features and plugins available with WordPress to make
your website fully functional.

Scope

Understand the capabilities of WordPress as a blogging platform and CMS.

Learn basic HTML and CSS

Develop a custom website from scratch

Learn how to customize WordPress

Understand how to utilise the WordPress plug-in library

Who can participate

Working Library Professionals, Faculty Members, Students and Research
scholars.

REGISTRATION RESTRICTED TO PARTICIPANTS WHO CAN BRING A LAPTOP TO TRAINING
PROGRAMME.

Venue: Seminar Hall, Mahatma Gandhi University Library

Date & Time:  February 20 & 21, 2015; 9.30 am to 4.00 pm

Registration: Registration fee is Rs. 800 for outside participants
(including working lunch, tea and snacks). Seat allotment will be based on
first come first served basis. Completed registration form can be send to
the email address, klaktym at gmail.com After the confirmation of
admission, registration fee can be paid in cash at the registration counter
