Graph Database: a tool for knowledge representation


ABSTRACT

It has been an established fact that the relational databases have been
dominating large and small scale industries in terms of data storage and
retrieval. However, lately they have been criticised of not been able to
serve in terms of scalability, flexibility and performance, especially in
the connected networks. Graph databases which not only target the entities
in the tables but also sets relationship among the entities using nodes
and elaborates the related property that have been deployed. Graph
databases are used  in bioinformatics, website like structures, building
ontologies and in social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter,
Linkedin. In this seminar, features and functionalities of graph
databases, Neo4j as a case study shall be discussed.
