Dear All LIS Professionals
It is painful to inform you that in the last few days we have lost two well known professional veterans. They are Sri D.N.Nagaraja Rao,  Sri T.V. Venkataramanaiah and Dr. Velaga Venkatappaiah.
Sri Nagaraja rao served at Mysore in NIE and Ramakrishna School and has been doing free consultancy to many young professionals. Despite his age and unable to walk steadily, he seldom missed any LIS conference and would cherish the proceedings. Has always loved the profession and has also excelled in CDS/ISIS Micro version and has build databases on some rare items. I had an opportunity visit his house at Mysore and saw a good personal library. He was 82 years old.
Sri Venkataramanaiah, Ret. (VRS) Dy. Librarian, Bangalore University, Bangalore was a close associate of Sri B.S. Keshavan. Sri Venkatamanaiah worked in National Library of India and was associated with the National Bibliography of Indian Literature compiled under the able editorial leadership of Sri Keshavan. A scholar in Kannada Literature, served the University ardently and built a collection of Kannada Works in Bangalore University known as "Karnatakana" which provided scholars all material under one roof. He has many compilations to his credit. Brought out many bibliographic tools and India Book House assigned work to compile a bibliography of their publications. Sri Venkatamanaiah has compiled works on Idioms on more than two hundred subjects. For example idioms on Bhatki, Jnana, Marriage and so on. I used to get his works on gratis and I have about 100 of them with me. It is treasure house of kannada works and for this tremendous work he was given a commemoration as "SUKTI RATNAKAR". We have lost a great librarian cum kannada scholar. He had a great personal respect, he took VRS because he was abused by a Student at Bangalore University during his service, and the authorities that be then did not make efforts to retain him and let him go. He was 82 years old.

Recently I got a message from Dr. Karisiddappa that Dr. Velega Vekatappaiah has passed away. Dr. Velaga an expert in Public Lbrary system and has authored many books in Telagu to popularise the LIS through regional language. Dr Venkatappaiah has also revised in 1994 the model public library Act, first brought out by DR.SRR. He was also closely associated with Prof. PN Kaula and has been looking after his Endowments very well.  He was 82
it is very sad hear the demise of these three veterans with whom I had a very close contact and relations and I knew them very well personally.

I pray Almighty on behalf all professional fraternity, to their souls to RIP.
With profound regards to the departed souls.
Prof. A.Y.Asundi
