[LIS-Forum] Committee for MULISSA at MyDLIS formed

Dear friends

The new executive committee for Mysore University Library and Information
Science Students’ Association (MULISSA) for the academic year 2013-14 was
formed recently.   The committee members are:  President – Prof. Khaiser
Nikam; Faculty Advisor – Dr. N.S. Harinarayana; Secretary – Sri Puttaswamy;
Joint Secretary – Sri Nithin Chakravarthi; Treasurer –  Kum. Geetha P.;
Members – Sri Nagendra Kumar, Sri Mahesh, Kum. Darshini and Kum. Kavyasri.



As its first activity for the current academic year MULISSA participated in
the ‘National Library Week’ celebrations organized by the Department of
Public Libraries at Mysore.  The student volunteers from MULISSA
participated in the procession from City Central Library to Kalamandira
under the leadership of Prof. Khaiser Nikam. The students created the
awareness among the general public about the reading and libraries by
holding more than 15 placards and two MULISSA banners.  Dr. N.S.
Harinarayana, Sri M.L. Umesh, Sri A. Selvaraju and Sri Sunil from the
Department of Library and Information Science also participated in the
procession.  MULISSA also had organized a short skit at Kalamandira to
highlight the significance of libraries in the society.  Prof. Mallinath
Kumbar, Prof. Chandrashekara M., Dr. A. Adithyakumari and research scholars
from the Department of Library and Information Science participated in the
function at Kalamandira.  The ‘National Library Week’ celebration at
Kalamandira function was attended by  members of parliament Sri A.H.
Vishwanath and Sri R. Dhruvanarayana.  Other dignitaries include Mayor N.M.
Rajeshwari, Deputy Mayor Sri V. Shailendra, Zilla Parishath President Sri
Mahadevu, MUDA Commissioner Sri S. Palaiah, MCC Commissioner P.G. Ramesh,
and others.  Prof. Khaiser Nikam gave a special lecture on the occasion.
