Landmark launches e-books

With the shrinking sales of physical books worldwide, Landmark has launched an e-books section to offer a green alternative to avid readers on its portal - www.landmarkonthenet.com.

This makes it the first book and music retail chain to have launched electronic books which can be read on computers or other electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets. Some popular devices are iPad, Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble's Nook and Kobo e-book reader.

"In the last two years we have been focusing on increasing our footprint in the digital space. With a surge in demand for smartphones and tablets, we saw great potential in the e-books space and have decided to increase our product offering to provide a new reading experience to the Indian consumer," said Ashutosh Pandey, COO, Landmark.

Landmark, a part of Tata Group's retail arm Trent, is to offer a varied range of international and local e-books at an affordable price starting at Rs 52. Select e-books will be available for free. Landmark soon plans to add classic literature titles to its collection of e-books which will be available free of cost for avid readers.
