                      Digital Curation

Scientists, researchers and scholars do not only generate vast amounts of
digital research data, but they also invest more in digital media by
acquiring digital content and information from third parties. Once
created, the data immediately falls into the data management and adding
value categories. Preservation and management of this data becomes crucial
for future use. The major issues are
(1)	With the advancement in digital technology, hardware and software may
become outmoded and information may become inaccessible.
(2)	Other users may be unable to understand or use data.
(3)	Access and use restrictions may make it difficult for others to re-use
data etc
There are many more issues concerned with the digital data especially the
data which is the outcome of a scientific research. After the data is
created, the management and preservation of data is an important task. In
this colloquia the discussion shall be focused on the techniques adopted
to preserve and maintain this data. Also the role is research support,
data scientist, data manager, informatician, data librarian or research
assistant will be discussed in building the research team’s capacity and
capability for digital curation and data preservation.
