Post of  Cataloguing Librarian in Upper Hutt City Library in  Newzeland

Cataloguing Librarian

Upper Hutt City Library is the city's primary community centre for
living, learning and leisure. It seeks to engage, inspire and inform
people; and plays a significant role in the development of a strong
local community.  The library collects and maintains a wide range of
material for the benefit of all Upper Hutt residents.

In addition to providing quality frontline customer service, the
primary focus of the Cataloguing Librarian is to edit imported MARC
records to provide library customers with quality catalogue records
that are responsive to their needs.

This position provides an opportunity for someone with library
experience and some formal cataloguing training to take their first
step into cataloguing.

The successful applicant must have a wide knowledge of recreational
reading and the ability to view the library service from the
customer's point of view. Excellent organisational and communication
skills are also required together with the ability to achieve a
consistently high output with a minimal error rate.
