ADMISSION NOTIFICATION – 2010 for Post-Graduate Diploma in Digital Information Management (PGDDIM)  offered by Department of Library & Information Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad

ABOUT THE COURSE:
In the coming years, every University/Institution/Industry is expected to go for their digital libraries/institutional repositories.  The programmes offered by the existing LIS Schools are providing theoretical background and concepts largely.  The PGDDIM course aims at creating trained personnel, who can design, develop and implement Digital Libraries and Institutional Repositories.  Osmania University is the first one to propose a full time program to develop required personnel in design, development and managing DLs and digital information resources.

ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates who have passed or appeared in final year of MLISc or an equivalent course with atleast 55% marks are eligible.

APPLICATION:
Application forms alongwith information brochures can be downloaded from OU website: www.osmania.ac.in. Candidates can submit the filled-in applications along with a demand draft for Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour of “The Director, Directorate of Admissions, O.U., Hyderabad”, either in person or by post, to the Director, Directorate of Admissions, Near University Press, Osmania University, Hyderabad – 500 007. The last date for submission is 14-08-2010 by 4.00 p.m.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Library and Information Science, Osmania University, has been consistently working towards improving the teaching and learning process by adapting ICTs.  There is almost 100% placement for MLISc qualified candidates from the department.  This is due to the fact that the department had taken the initiative to introduce a two-month compulsory Internship programme for the MLISc students.
