Dear Professional Colleagues,

Hosting full text M.Phil/Ph.D. theses is a dream coming true for Librarians. This move will no doubt have a lot of impact on accessibility, quality of research, and avoiding duplication of research, but what if some scholars want to publish their work after submitting their theses, especially if they want to patent their work. In that case how can they submit their theses within 30 days period?

Can experts provide any solution to this problem? If so, please write your views.

With Kind Regards,

UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree), Regulation, 2009 (Link http://www.ugc.ac.in/policy/notificationmphilphd.pdf)

Dear Professionals,

As per this new regulation;
"Following successful completion of evaluation process and announcements of the award of Mphil/Phd, the University shall submit a softcopy of MPhil/PhD thesis to UGC within period of 30 days for hosting the same in INFLIBNET, accessible to all Institutions/universities"

Hopefully we can see the Full-Text theses at
http://indcat.inflibnet.ac.in/indcat/thesis.jsp very soon.

This is the right move from UGC, which will help in wide access to Indoan PhD literature, which will indirectly increase the quality of Research and avoid duplications in research.

Regards,

Dr. J K Vijayakumar
