State of the World 2007: Our Urban Future

As the world moves into forthcoming years, more people will be living in urban areas. India's urban population is also increasing at a faster rate than its total population growth rate. Urban poverty highlights the problems of degraded shelter, deficient water, drainage, sewerage and solid waste disposal.

Research in urban economies suggests that cities have played a key role in developing the national economies of developed countries through accelerated urbanization.

'State of the World 2007: Our Urban Future' examines changes in the way cities managed, built, and lived in that could tip the balance towards a healthier and more peaceful urban future. This book deals with providing clean water and sanitation, greening urban transportation, reducing natural disaster risks in cities, urban public health, fighting poverty and injustice in cities and many other urban issues. State of the World 2007: Our Urban Future contains in-depth case studies-city space of cities like Los Angeles, Melbourne, Jakarta, Mumbai, Nairobi, Rizhao and many other, through study of which one can acquire the fair ideas of problems faced in cities, urban planning and solutions.

This book assists in making strategies for strengthening local economics, course for public health, energizing cities and farming in the cities also.

For libraries, 'State of the World' widens the area of reading in a library. It is helpful for policymakers, urban planners, students in the field of development and this is a great tool in a city planning process. This book has a very rich content by writers from around the world.and can also be used as a reference book.
