Steven Kerchoff
 
Steven Kerchoff is Information Resource Officer with the US Embassy in New Delhi, India, working with Embassy libraries in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.  Prior to his arrival in New Delhi in August 2007, he was Information Resource Officer for Mexico and Central America from 2005 to 2007.
 
Prior to joining the State Department, Mr. Kerchoff worked for the Library of Congress for 21 years, including 13 years as a Network Program Specialist with the Federal Library and Information Network (FEDLINK), a network of libraries in federal government agencies.  In 2000 he participated in a year-long detail to the Government Printing Office, working as an Electronic Transition Specialist with the Federal Depository Library Program.  He has also worked as a consultant for the Sri Lanka National Library and Documentation Services Board under the auspices of the ALA/USIA Library Fellows Program.  
 
Mr. Kerchoff has given numerous presentations at conferences, including the American Library Association Annual Meeting, the Federal Depository Library Conference, and Online World.  His articles and reviews have appeared in such publications as American Libraries, FEDLINK Technical Notes, Sci-Tech News, Information Processing and Management, New Review of Academic Librarianship, and the Foreign Service Journal.
 
Active in professional associations, Mr. Kerchoff recently completed a 3-year term as an At-Large Councilor on ALA Council, the governing body of the American Library Association.  He has also been President of the Library of Congress Professional Association and a Directory of the ALA Federal Librarians Round Table.
 
Steven Kerchoff holds a Masters Degree in library science from the Catholic University of America and a Masters Degree in humanities from Georgetown University.
