Centre for Science and Environment, a premier research organisation working
on environment since 1980 from New Delhi and recognised for its “knowledge-based
activism” has announced its training “Managing Information in the digital age:  A
training programme on information management for advocacy and outreach",  to be
conducted at CSE’s office in New Delhi from August 21-24, 2007.

CSE’s Short course on Managing information in the digital age
A training programme on Information management, documentation and outreach.

Managing information today requires special skills and calls for investments in
strengthening the information infrastructure and skills of the organisation. Here is an
opportunity for you to participate in a specially-designed short training programme
on 'Managing information resources in the digital age (August 21-24, 2007). The
training is brought to you by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New
Delhi recognised for “knowledge-based activism”.

The training is being organised by CSE's Environment Resource Unit, among South
Asia's premier research and documentation centres.

This unique course will teach participants on how to manage all aspects and types of
information, at an institutional level. The programme is broad in scope, and covers a
gamut of information types, management strategies, tools, and dissemination
strategies.

Course modules
- Planning and managing resource centres in the digital age.
* Sourcing Information (information aquisition and research)
* Organising Information: Classification and Indexing [including electronic resources]
* Electronic documentation: newsclippings, research papers, articles and contact
addresses [hands-on workshops]
* Documentation of audio visual resources: Photos and films
* Library automation [focus on open source tools]
* Information Services & Products
* Digital Library Fundamentals [using open source models]
* Information outreach and planning
* Online presence: reaching out through the Web


Course Fee
Government, Corporate bodies and others: Rs. 8800/- (USD 225/-) per participant
NGOs, students: Rs. 4,400/- (USD 95/-) per participant.

Course Schedule
·   Course commences on: August 21, 2007
·   Course timings: 10.00 am to 5.30 pm
·   Course concludes on: August 24, 2007
