On E-Content Development and Management
Bill Gates once called the Internet as a marketplace of ideas, experiences, and products - a marketplace of content. In todays digital environment Content is King.
There is a continuing need to develop relevant, useful and authentic content. As more Indians use the Internet and as worldwide more people use the Internet to know about India, there is a growing need for the development of a critical mass of localized content both in English and Indian languages.
The definition of "content" is very wide and includes all categories of popular content - not just software and news, but also games, entertainment, sports programming, directories, classified advertising, and on-line communities devoted to major interests. Content development and management lies at the base of Web, Intranet and CD-Rom publishing; it also underlies e-commerce and e-learning two growing trends, world wide.
You can be part of the rapidly growing employment market in this area. You can use your subject knowledge (and also your experience, hobbies, passions, or pastimes) and learn to create high-value content, which ranks well at the Search Engines. You may become a self-employed Infopreneur or work as a team member of a web product and service provider.
SHPT School of Library Science, SNDT Womens University has a long tradition of continuing professional education. It has, in collaboration with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India developed an 8-credit (4 month part time) course to provide conceptual and practical inputs in the area of content development and management.
