Information Literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to
`recognise when information is needed and have the ability to
locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information'. It
forms the basis for lifelong learning. It is common to all disciplines,
to environments, and to all levels of education. It enables learners to
master content and investigations, becomes more self-directed and
assures greater control over their own learning process.
Developing lifelong learning is central to the mission of higher
education institutions ensuring that individuals have the intellectual
abilities of reasoning and critical through helping them construct a
framework for learning how to learn. Higher education institutions
provide the foundation for the students towards lifelong personal and
professional growth. Since information literacy augments student's
competency with accessing evaluating, managing, and using information,
it is now considered by several regional and national accredited
associations as a key outcome for students and scholars.
Seminar Objectives
The Seminar is directed towards enabling an individual to:
Determine the extent of information required;
Access the needed information effectively;
Evaluate information and its sources critically;
Incorporate selected information into one's knowledge base;
Use information to accomplish a specific purpose;
Understand the economic, legal and social issues surrounding the use of
information.

Call for Papers
Papers are invited on the theme and any of sub-themes.
The Sub-themes are:
Information Literacy - Means and Methods
Information Literacy Models
Information Literacy Standards
Information Literacy and Libraries
Information Literacy - Case Studies
The paper should not exceed 3000 words inA4 size word document. The
paper should include name of the author, affiliation, mailing address,
telephone and e-mail address,
submitted in CD-ROM along with the printed version. The paper can be

Registration fee is Rs. 300/- per delegate.The Registration fee includes
