[LIS-Forum] "Re: Contents of LIS-Forum digest...NET relief mooted for MPhil, PhD students"

Dear All,

Please refer to e-mail message titled "[LIS-FORUM] NET
relief mooted for MPhil, PhD students" at LIS Forum
dated 21/04/06. I don't know much about south India,
but in North India for every single post advertised,
there is more than 100 NET/ SLET qualified applicants.
Only one person will get the job and rest people will
be left behind. The job market is not expanding enough
in this sector where the persons will get permanent
jobs with a proper UGC scale.

So, there is no rationale to exempt NET/SLET clause
for College Librarian/ Univ Asst. Librarian/ Lecturer
post. 

Hope, UGC/ AICTE first give opportunities to NET/SLET
qualified un-employed LIS professionals, then think of
exemptions of non-qualified professionals.
