[KM-Forum] Whom does the corporate librarian report to ?

Hi,

I agree with this observation but we can create exceptions. Personally
speaking, some years ago, I was in charge of the library and information
centre of a French MBA Institute and I created and set up a KM research
centre in this institute. Perhaps it depends on the corporate environment
and culture, but any administrator who feels the KM imperative should
generate and contribute to the launch of the movement locally and later
perhaps more globally.

Hi MM

I have a similar observation.

But, I also have a painful observation -

The Librarians are treated like secretary and administrators. When a famous
company creates a KM department - they never involve the Librarians - they
involve the techies.

I feel - partly the Librarians are also responsible for this as they could
not project themselves as capable for the KM job.

I wish this can be changed.

What does the group say ?
